Agriculture Food and Environmental Sciences

Recognized as a national leader in agricultural education

Every day in the College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences, we're investing in the future by focusing on student success. Featuring nine departments across many disciplines, we bring learning into the field, the farm and the forest to meet the diverse agricultural and environmental needs of California and our global society. We're committed to providing students with on-campus internships and individualized research opportunities to gain the skills and knowledge needed to be successful in the workplace as soon as they graduate. Your support ensures students continue to benefit from these vital Learn by Doing opportunities.

Giving Priorities:

Industry Engagement Fund — Give Now

Building on Cal Poly’s commitment to working with industry, this fund empowers students and faculty to engage with leaders in and out of the classroom. Whether supporting student travel to prominent conferences and events, bringing faculty closer to key partners through industry tours or advancing college-wide events on campus, giving to this fund strengthens relationships and makes more opportunities for industry collaboration possible.

Dean’s Power of Doing Fund — Give Now

The college is excited to welcome Brian Horgan as the new dean, starting in July. This fund ensures Dr. Horgan has the start-up resources to hit the ground running — enabling him to readily engage with key stakeholders including alumni, donors and industry partners, pursue strategic priorities and invest in our students’ success. Give now to ensure Dr. Horgan is Ready Day One.

Wildland-Urban Interface Fire Institute — Give Now

California continues to experience unprecedented fire disasters. In response, Cal Poly created the Wildland-Urban Interface Fire Institute to help build more resilient communities. Faculty and students from across the university are collaborating with industry to find novel solutions to reduce wildfire threats and property loss through improved land management, building design and materials, planning, and insurance and financial models. Your support will help fast-track the impact of the institute’s work. Learn More.

CAFES Dean's Earn by Doing Challenge

The college’s Earn by Doing Program is integral to student success and learning — allowing students to gain paid industry-specific work experience at one of the 15 agricultural units on campus. To support hands-on learning in these units, Interim Dean Dr. Jeremy James has generously agreed to match gifts up to $15,000! Double Your Gift
