Through undergraduate research with faculty mentors, our students explore solutions to questions no one’s asked before. They discover new planets and work to save this one. They deliver mobile health services to underserved community members. They bring hands-on science to local K-12 classrooms.
Every year, more than 1,000 students in the college engaged in undergraduate research. With your help, we can expand our offerings to include all our students.

Giving Priorities
Undergraduate Research: Students learn and work side-by-side with professors in their research labs. Student researchers get hands-on experience with state-of-the-art equipment, laboratory spaces and methodology. And they discover answers to real-world questions. More than 1,000 undergraduates in the college engage in faculty-mentored research annually. You can help extend that opportunity to every interested student.
Science and Mathematics Cal Poly Scholars: The Cal Poly Scholars program aims to recruit and retain high-achieving students with financial need from California high schools and community colleges. In addition to a scholarship, the program provides a technology package, a living-learning community and additional programs to support student success.
Dean's Excellence Fund: Created to support the areas of highest need in the college, the Dean's Excellence Fund provides the flexibility to enhance and enrich Learn by Doing as new opportunities arise.
